Right, so I've always used a generic MM build a friend of mine gave me on Master of Whispers. Time to abuse the game's AI, I'd say!
N/Mo
SR: 8+2
Blood: 2
Death: 12+1+3
Heal: 10
[skill]animate shambling horror[/skill][skill]animate bone minions[/skill][skill]jagged bones[/skill][skill]death nova[/skill][skill]dwayna's sorrow[/skill][skill]dark bond[/skill][skill]taste of death[/skill][skill]resurrection chant[/skill]
Quite easy, of course: loads of chumps with stacks of death triggers; ToD as a minion-killer and self-heal. Jagged Bones is a must-stay as I like 'infinity loops'.
I intend to pick up Livia, maybe even Xandra as back-up Minion Thingy now I have GWEN. In this context, is Dwayna's Sorrow worth it? Is ToD even a good choice as Big Red Button?
As I've never played a Necro primary, C&C would be greatly appreciated!

If you really want to minion bomb, go Rt/N and carry
[skill]explosive growth[/skill] and [skill]boon of creation[/skill]
But as for you hero, the build looks fine.

There is a little problem with your build. Hero's use [card]Dwayna's Sorrow[/card] as much as they use [card]Heal Party[/card]. Plus Hero's try to stay away from casting the good spell on minions...
Not casting all the time + Casting it not on minions = a bad hero spell
Now if the MM Hero's used it the same way as [card]Death Nova[/card] Then it would be no problem. But of course hero's don't do it!
Edit: To have a more helpful Minion Master add [card]Blood Ritual[/card] and take out dark bond. My MM hero has a lot of minions and keeps my monks energy to a good level.
Edit (again): [card]Jagged Bones[/card] isn't very helpful... sadly, not with it's 15 recharge (stupid Nerf). So add [card]Wail of Doom[/card] or [card]Reaper's Mark[/card] Not the best spells, but it's SOMEWHAT better than Jagged Bones (starts to cry)

First of all, a rit won't make as effective a mb as a necro, especially if it's a hero-control.
Second, Dwayna's Sorrow doesn't work with a hero mb.
Third, JB is even in its nerfed state way better than other options.
Altogether the OP build is perfectly fine but Dwaynas is meh and all things considered Shambling is meh too. I'd put in Draw Condition and Infuse Condition in the build.

Yes, I have read it. It is inferior for several reasons.
Actually, I have to correct myself. Wail of Doom might be attractive on a hero MB, but it would require tailoring the build additionally. Reaper's Mark is positively awful.

In my experience, heroes don't use [wiki]Dwayna's Sorrow[/wiki] often, and if they do, they only cast it on other players/heroes too, not on the minions.
Edit: Isn't this supposed to be in the Heroes Section?

Dwayna's Sorrow affects all nearby allies of target ally, including minions, that's why I thought it'd be good even if it only heals the party, not the minions.
Besides MoW, a Rt/N Hero will also be packing Death Nova and Jagged Bones, aside from the Boon of Creation package. I now know the workings of this combination and the more JB, the better.
Also, I'm prepared for some micro-managing
EDIT: Infuse-Draw is lost on me cuz I don't have Proph! Sadly...
Also, when the Rt/N finally makes it to the party I may well have to revise some of their respective Animate spells. Shambling might not make the cut then.

Here's a few variations on that build:
N/Mo
SR: 12+1
Blood: 3
Death: 12+1+3
[skill]animate bone horror[/skill][skill]animate bone minions[/skill][skill]jagged bones[/skill][skill]death nova[/skill][skill]signet of lost souls[/skill][skill]dark bond[/skill][skill]taste of death[/skill][skill]resurrection chant[/skill]
I like bone horrors because of the short recharge time - more minions up more quickly. Also traded out Dwayna's Sorrow (energy drain and small party heal) for signet of lost souls (energy management and larger self heal). Taking out Dwayna's also means you don't need points in healing prayers.
For additional pressure, swap out [wiki]jagged bones[/wiki] for [wiki]tainted flesh[/wiki]. The hero AI will put tainted on anything that moves, and it is a relatively cheap 0 recharge spell. You shouldn't have a problem keeping 10 minions up without jagged, unless you have more than 1 MM working.
N/Mo IV Bomber
SR: 12+1
HP: 3
Death: 12+1+3
[skill]animate bone horror[/skill][skill]animate bone minions[/skill][skill]death nova[/skill][skill]Icy Veins[/skill][skill]Rising Bile[/skill][wiki]putrid bile[/wiki][skill]taste of death[/skill][skill]resurrection chant[/skill]
Some extra spike damage when things die.
Secondary MM - combine with one of the above builds for more exploding goodness.
Rt/N Rit Bomber
Death Magic: 12
Spawning Power: 10+1+3
Communing: 8+1
[skill]Mighty was Vorizun[/skill][skill]Boon of Creation[/skill][skill]Explosive Growth[/skill][skill]Animate Bone Minions[/skill][skill]tainted flesh[/skill][skill]Death Nova[/skill][skill]empowerment[/skill][skill]Signet of Creation[/skill]
I'd suggest disabling signet of creation and microing before a tough battle, or you could bring [wiki]flesh of my flesh[/wiki] instead.

I've settled for the first build Xylia posted, taking out Shambling for Bone and DS for SoLS. I do believe I spent the 3 Blood points on Healing tho.
Thanks everyone!

While generally I agree with your points Moloch on this one I have to disagree. When factions first came out I ran a similar build on my rit. Granted it takes an insane amount of micro managing which I doubt Hero AI is up to but the damage output is much higher than a traditional Necro MB build simply because of the bonus from explosive growth. Since enemies tend to bunch up and attack the odds of a significant amount of enemies being around a corpse that you will exploit is high and then a quick cast of Death Nova and boom much more damage than death nova alone. You have to have ungodly fast fingers but it is workable and it does exceed the damage output of a necro MB exponentially. I do agree though that on a hero this would probably fail and as a player build you need to have above average micro managing abilities and twitch muscle reflexes.

my Rt heroes do well enough as bombers...they keep the bodies going and spread death-nova fine.
death-nova is insanely hard to use when mming yourself..If you're gonna bomb let a hero do it..they can target the minions far better. You really only have to micro botm like on any mm hero..

Whilst not a pure minion bomber, I was very impressed with Livia's performance with the following build whilst running through Slaver's Exile last night.
[skill]Icy Veins[/skill][skill]Putrid Bile[/skill][skill]Rising Bile[/skill][skill]Death Nova[/skill][skill]Animate Bone Minions[/skill][skill]Putrid Explosion[/skill][skill]Signet of Lost Souls[/skill][skill]Signet of Sorrow[/skill]
SoS was just there so she to kill Duncy whilst I went to watch stargate and could be replaced.
